Now I've seen it all

Bit of a rant
I've been woodworking for a while now and working with tools my entire life. Some tools are good, some are cheap and some are just too darn expensive. Anyone who knows woodworking tools knows the name Festool. While I don't like to simply badmouth a company or brand if I don't like or use their product, I do feel compelled to mention this one.

That's right, $350 for a stool on wheels with a drawer. Now knowing there brand and quality of tools, I'm sure it's the best stool on wheels with a drawer money can buy. I seriously want to know who is buying these things? I realize that prices continue to rise all the time, but sometimes I wander if I pulled a Rip Van Winkle.
If I polled 100 woodworkers and asked them, If you had $350 to spend on tools for your shop, what would you buy? I don't see this thing making the list.

Yeap Ed!!! I would have to agree. If I wanted a stool, I would buy a stool, and if I wanted a drawer I may buy a cabinet. No wait I could buy several stools and cabinets for 350.00 ...LOL

It should have a place to plug in your iPod or at least a grinding wheel to sharpen your gouges.

I might pay $20 for it

Heck, the SnapOn roller stool with a drawer is only $100.  And they think their stuff is gold plated.

it doesn't even look comfortable. looks kind of  like  my surface planer.  with  my  luck I  would  end up siting on the planer thinking it was the stool and bump the switch on it.  Ouch.

BULLS EYE, Ed!
That company does appear to make some  really nice, high quality stuff... but the pricing on most all of it makes me pass by very quickly. Like some others, I really wonder who buys it at those prices. Of course, there are a few other companies that could be accused of unrealistic pricing on some of their products as well. I am glad that we have other manufacturers with a good variety of quality tools at reasonable prices that we can choose from!

As a old man I can fall asleep most any place, but I don't think this thing would allow enought comfort, while you would not fall to far, for 350.00 dollars you don't even get a seat belt...geeezzz...

Those aren't peg board sides Larry.  They are air holes, in case you want to keep something living in the drawer Smiley

They are vent holes alright, but they are designed for when you eat too many beans.  smiley=shake head.gif smiley=shake head.gif
