Completed my first open segment turning. I have a picture of the jig I used. I used white school glue for its assembly since it dries clear. I made an Oland style tool for all the turning. It has a 3/16 inch cutter. Using a 3/8 inch gouge was like using a shovel to remove a splinter. The CFO said it was OK. That meant it wasn't great but wasn't bad either. It has taken its place up on the fireplace mantel and she said it is OK to fill it up. OK, lets see.... mantel is 6 foot long, maybe 4 per foot, hummmm, Well I got to get busy!!!!!!!!!

Don't get to work on turning every day and I only add two rings let them dry 4-6 hours and true them up. Maybe 4 rings on a good day!

The kind of persistence it takes to complete a project that consists of many small steps over a long period is completely different than the persistence it takes to complete a big object.
