If you have been on this forum for a year or so you know I like to make my own designs.  This project was no different.  Actually its been rambleing around in my head for about 1 1/2 years.  First I had to learn threading, carving, flocking, dying and gold leafing as I had a plan for each technique.  The cryptex is 12.5" long and 2.5" in diameter.  It is constructed of Cherry finials and beads that are threaded together.  The finials are hollowed out and deep blue flocking applied.  I pyro'ed the letters on the Holly tumblers.  The inner tube is Fiddle Back Maple and has brass pins.  The tumbler tube (as is the tumbler rings) is staved constructed using Blond Mohogany.  The bottom tumbler has a True Stone Turquois ring with my signature.  The base is Sweet Gum ans was dyed with Artisan Red dye as were the finials.  The entire project was finished with Masters Gloss Lacquer.  Hope you like it as much as I do.  At least its out of my head now.   All comments welcome!

Way too cool. I have in the back of my head to make one of those. Won't be as nice as yours but I'd love to do one some day.

Very nice work as always.

Hi Walt  Commenting on this post is going to date me, the cryptex reminds me of some  WW 11 equipment that I worked on which was still in use after the war. A really fine job and you are to be commended for your fine work, creativity and designs. Well done Regards Roger C  smiley=thumbsup.gif smiley=thumbsup.gif smiley=thumbsup.gif
