Hello Dave, I am new to this forum and ran across your tutorial and found the work you have done with casting acrylic and wood is beautiful. I have watched your videos on you-tube which has inspired me to try this soon. I do have a question about the process. Is the burl stabilized? Again thanks for sharing your work

Thanks for the comments.

The so called acrylic is actually a urethane based resin similar to the family of epoxy to the best of my knowledge.

The burls that you have seen are not stabilized. If I was going to stabilize the wood it would need to be a porus wood such as spalted maple of even something like Box Elder burl (Manitoba Maple). I do use Cactus Juice to stabilize, but I apply my stabilizing in a similar, but different manner than what Curtis shows. I use vacuum and pressure to stabilize.

Dave read your tutorial on the casting great work.  My questions in on the turning, did you glue a piece of wood to the top of the piece (looks like you might have in the pictures)?  Thank you William
