I just got some nice kiln dried wood I want to glue up to make some platters, bowls, and stuff. I have always used titebond III for my gluing projects, but I thought some of you with experience with segmenting glue ups for projects that will be used for food or fruit may have a better type of glue for this kind of thing.Just wondering.

I usually use Titebond II
There is really no need for III since your vessel will most likely not be permanently submerged in water. Also with TB II there are more choices like dark glue, which is self explanitory and extend, which has a longer open time, great for tricky glue-ups.

I used III because I had it for flat work, but more recently I've been using Titebond Translucent. It tacks quicker and dries clear.

First came white Elmer's white glue

Then they change Elmer's glue it by adding a little yellow dye (to match the wood color), having it dry faster, and called it yellow glue. (aka carpenter's glue, Titebond)

Then Titebond decided to change yellow glue and make it a little water resistant and they called it Titebond II.

The next step for Titebond was to make yellow glue water proof, and they did, and named it Titbond III

While all the formulations of yellow glue are excellent products, there are better glues available.

Next up would be Hide glue and the pellets that you have to melt in a glue pot work better than the liquid hide glue that comes in a bottle.

But the all time best glue ever is fish glue, which has been around for a few thousand years. The best fish glue is made by a Canadian company called Sigma Aldrich and costs about $110 per liter.

For all tense and purpose, any of the yellow glue products will work just fine and if you want a little more open time, white glue is just as strong.
