Past week or so
Jun 12th, 2013 at 12:05pm

This past week or so has been pretty bad, we've been getting slammed by spammers and other malicious entities. At times they crashed the forum and other times there were so many simultaneous connections (like 1000s at a time) the site just crawled and took minutes to load.

I've been patching and upgrading sections all week long to stop their attack. There was another attack this morning and I think I finally got all angles covered.

Thanks for hanging in there

Like I'm sure everyone else, greatly appreciate your time and patience for our mutual benefit.  There's no way to quantify how much benefit I have gained from this forum.

I am always dismayed by how destructive some people can be... and I am always greatly cheered and impressed by those hardy individuals who strive to contain/repair the damage.  I wanted to add my 2 cents worth, Ron... but I think Don Stephan said it best!

Ron, you are not alone.

Another Forum I am on has been under spam attack as well.

We had to do massive and aggressive Ip bannings to stem it.

Thanks Ian

I found out the hard way banning the bad guys IP is only a temporary fix. Its really easy for them to change their IPs
