Excellent Robbo. I learned a thing or two about my Vicmarks. I have one that is so old, it tightens up and loosens in the opposite direction.

Very good, Robbo!  I wish I had seen that before I tried disassembling my SN2 a few years ago.  I could not get that plastic dust shield off the back no matter what I did and wound up breaking it in the attempt.  I hadn't taken the grub screw all the way out. 

I have never understood why Teknatool decided it was necessary to fill those things with grease in the first place.  In a wood shop they are obviously going to get  packed up with sawdust from power sanding.
