I got a package from Calgary today --  I could not wait for the 25th so shared the blame for early opening of a package.

My wife opened it and commented as she did, that the sender wraps packages like I do -- stout and protected several layers deep.

It was well wrapped to say the least and arrived in perfect condition.  It now hangs on the special display tree with other most excellent  ornaments.  It fits right in.

Many thanks Bert!!!

That was extra fast.  Usually it is the second business day.

I started throwing Chuck's name around and should have seen them spring into action.  Cheesy

I watched a documentary on postal handling once and wanted to be sure that it would make through the machinery unscathed. I am glad it made it in good shape.
Merry Christmas.

Thank you Bob as I received yours in the mail today. WOW I am so impressed, I have never seen up close anything that detailed. Thank you very very much and it will not be packed away with the Christmas stuff I plan to keep it with my turnings to give me inspiration!!  Meanwhile like a child at Christmas, I was very intrigued with your packaging. I would like to point out to everyone that he shipped it in a tube but the ends were wood and I am 100% sure he turned those ends....  Plus he packed it in a newspaper from a  college. First thing I noticed as a photographer was how crisp and clear the printing and colors were. The pictures are nothing like I have seen in the states, they were clear. Their was even a walmart ad he used and the color just popped. Even the wife was taken back on ad and paper.

You're welcome, Jerry!  I had a mailing tube that was long enough to make two shipping containers but I did need to make up some end caps from some scraps of 2x4.  I didn't realize there was anything unusual about the packing stuff.  We get a plastic bag full of flyers dropped on our front porch every week and I just rescued some of them from the blue box when I needed something to fill out the package to keep the ornament from rattling around.  I confess I wasn't paying attention to what papers I was using.

Glad it got there safe!

I am going to share what I included with Ed's ornament. I like to give character to things, give it a story.  Some may think this is goofy, but it's me, what can I say.  This was printed and rolled with  a gold band around it.

Certificate of Authenticity

This document certifies that this bowl and gouge is an original from the archaeological
dig of the little people in 1984.

History:
There was a group of small humans known by the locals as the little people, many thought this was just a myth. The location of this village has been kept secret, even to this day. This is why most people are largely unaware that they ever existed.  In 1984 a small group of archaeologists did a excavation of the area that they were believed to be in. This became known to archaeologists as "the dig of the little people". Much to the surprise of the archaeologists, the little people were using what we would call today a wood lathe. They found several bowls, turnings, and tools used and made from this process.  This certified bowl and tool (today called a gouge)  was one of several found, but the ONLY one to have the tool and bowl fused together. The fact it even has the shavings from the bowl also fused makes this a one of a kind. That also raises speculation that whatever caused the fall of the little people must have happened suddenly and with great impact, such as a meteor. It is speculated that this bowl and tool was permanently preserved and fused at that very moment.  We hope you cherish this rare and priceless relic from the "dig of the little people".
