Does anybody know what is causing this "ex-member' glitch to appear after a member's name?

It happened to me last week and was remedied soon after I e-mailed an administrator.
I noticed this morning that Steve Doerr has ex-member next to his name.

What's causing this and how is it being handled. This is "not" a cut towards any administrators...just curious.

Not an easy answer.

Its a combination of a large number of spammers, bad bots and evil doers trying to enter the site at the same time an innocent bystander tries to make a PM. Exactly why these two occurrences need to be aligned for someone's profile to become corrupt is the question.

I have built in a lot of security to make sure everyone's data remains private (such as emails addresses) and to prevent spammers from posting on our site.

Since late last summer I've been working with the software developers to fix this problem. We have made some headway. Last summer 4-5 profiles a day would become corrupt. Today its about 2 a week. We're getting there.
