working on a new bench

Making two "bases" as shown which will be separated by a couple feet.  The top will span the bases, leaving a "knee hole" at the center..so I can sit at the bench instead of along side of it!

I think the pics "blow up" when clicked on?

Stock roughed to size.

Not yet, Guy!  I work on it a bit on and off, but lots of other stuff going on now with the nicer weather.  Landscaping to do around the house AND the shop.  The last three days we were at the motorcycle road races at Road America/Elkhart Lake.  Next week I'm off on a little bike trip with a couple out-of-state buds.  I do have the home-made cypress veneer cut, so maybe I'll get the drawer fronts done this week....maybe Roll Eyes

Tops picked up about 25 years ago at a lumber yard auction.  They were a dealer/distributor for some H-U-G-E laminated beams.  These are some of the "offcuts".  Douglas Fir.

Really nice Jeff.  They'll still be around a hundred years from now.  If there's ever a tornado in your area you've got the place to ride it out.
Funny, I was just here yesterday wondering how they were comming along.   Thumbs Up

GluLam makes a great bench top.  I've got a 6' length of 5X15" for the top of my lathe bench.
