Cherry Dish
Aug 11th, 2014 at 12:02pm

Here's a dish I turned from a nice scrap of cherry that a friend gave to me.  It was a rough-sawn slab about 6-1/4" wide by 1-1/4" thick.  I didn't know what I had until I turned it.  It finished up at 5-3/4" dia. and 1" high.  It's amazing what a little Jet lathe (and cole jaws) can do.  It's the best tool I've ever bought.

Eric...Your dish project turned out AWESOME!!!  I really like it and think your project turned out extremely well, a very beautiful piece!!!  I'm surprised out how 'shallow' your raw turning blank was as the finished piece looks much deeper...nice turning!!!  Did you use a 'recessed' tenon for the project or???  Again, beautiful turning, thanks for sharing and safe turning to you always! Thumbs Up

No. I turned a foot, which held the piece while I finished the interior, rim, and as much of the outside as I could.  I used Cole jaws to finish the outside and bottom.

Beautiful Bowl Eric I would expect nothing less from you, all of your work is the best. The style is so nice I will probably make one like it for myself. Thanks for posting.
