The postman dropped off a box from Illinois just a few moments ago. Gorgeous wood in there from Kevin. Looking forward to chucking some up on the lathe. Thanks Kevin, and thank you Jim Quarles for putting this wood trade together.

I received my box from Charlie a few days ago, the main item the Black Tupelo piece look great and I hope to have it rough turned in a couple of weeks to dry out in the bag w/chips over our winter. Unfortunately a piece of oak and Mesquite he also sent me were badly checked and I can't use them. Darn shame as the oak looks nicely figured.

Received my box from Patrick Norris yesterday and opened it this morning.  The spattled Hickory is spectacular.  Thanks.

Got my box from Patrick Norris today.  Nice piece of spalted hickory (probably very similar to what Mark received) a nice piece of mesquite along with some other woods.  Thanks Patrick.

I was fortunate to get the Black Tupelo piece from Charlie, and he asked for a posting of a pic. Today I rough turned it and I have a 22 moisture reading with the bowl now at 7 1/2" dia by 1 3/4" high. Turned real well and wet and it will be put away in Brown bag with chips throughout the winter. That is cool.  I've been wondering how wet it really is.  I'm wanting to turn a few Christmas balls out of it but I've been concerned about the moisture still in it.  I may microwave some pieces soon.

I looked at my stash of oak and mesquite that I cut the pieces from this weekend, and none of it has any splits.  I wonder if the climate change from here to there would have caused that?  Both of them were cut well over a year ago.
