Mark's New Shop
Jan 18th, 2015 at 11:15am

My wife and I moved to our new Empty Nester home in October and I had the opportunity to build a new shop in the basement. I added more lights and reciprocals this time around.  The space is 11 x 17. Trying to cut down on the noise transmission I added 3 1/2 inch blue denim insulation to the ceiling and inside walls and then put up 1/2 inch OSB on the ceiling and 3/4 inch OSB on the walls.  If I were to do it again, I think I would spend a few more $ and use plywood instead. I would like to acquire a drill press at some time in the future, But as you know there is always a wish list.

Looks like a great shop.  Is it possible to move the dust collector out of your shop and into another part of the basement?  i would also get a better filter for the dust collector.  Shop is well thought out and should serve you well.

Looks great, a nice fresh start. You might consider a Shopsmith for an all purpose tool. I have had mine since 1980, still going strong. I have the bandsaw attachment and belt sander. It's a good drill press, the speed is a little high as is, you can get a reducer.

Looks really good! (floor's too clean though)

Looks really nice Mark.  Been wondering how your doing since left us on the east side.  Maybe the Bluewater Turners need a field trip.

I see a closet that could work.

Nice job Mark.

Nice looking shop--way to clean and I don't see a lot of turning blocks yet.  Better get busy, or are you keeping it as a "display" shop Grin
