I have watched a lot of videos on finishes,,and most of them tell you to make your own which I have,,but I have yet to see a finish that compares to using triple e and then shellwax friction polish,,can anyone tell me of a finish that compares to it,,,both products aren't cheap but they do give excellent results,,,thank you

Jeff,

I was doing the same thing but recently I've switched to using sanding sealer after the EEE.
The sanding sealer dries faster and gives a harder finish. I cut the out of the can sealer 50/50 and apply it with a paper towel. I usually put a coat of Ren wax on at the end.
One caveat, I only use this on smaller pieces, bottle stoppers, boxes etc., on larger pieces I use a variety of finishes depending on the look I want.

Jeff -- welcome to the mire of finishes.

There are many out there and depending on the outcome desired, they all can achieve results.

Wax and shellac are ancient finishes -- and they look pretty good off the lathe.   And depending on what the use will be, they may be a near perfect outcome.

One of the better discussions of finishing options was by Russ Fairfield.  Russ passed away about 4 years ago, but his writing is still applicable and I go back and re-read it from time to time.   Highly recommended.
