Cherry Vase

Just finished a new vase. It is made of mostly cherry with a maple mouth. There are 21 rings and 264 pieces, about 8 1/2" tall, 5" at its widest, WOP finish.
I use a Wedgie sled, which made the majority of the ring work a breeze. The top pattern was a bit more trouble but still used the wedgie sled for it. The top shoulder is made with 24, 20deg cherry wedges with 12, 10 deg maple wedges inverted between every 2nd cherry wedge for a total of 360deg.

Interesting, the top part looks almost like a lid, makes the turning somewhat easier. Thanks for showing.

Very good description of the process and nice result.

Segmented designs are something I haven't messed with yet but i'm getting more and more inspired by what I'm seeing can be achieved

Definitely on the cards for me to do when I get the time to lay it all out.  It also lets me justify the scraps, i mean small stock I have laying around!

Gordon,
I hope you don't mind that I used your ring design.  Though it was cool.
