i got a new lathe!
Oct 9th, 2015 at 2:09pm

Found it on the internet, after a long time of searchiing
The biggest problem was to find one with a chuck and an engine that runs on 220/230v.
ALmost all run on 380v here and i dont have such an outlet.

Anyway here it is, made by someone some 30 years ago.
Bought it from an elderly man who used to make pianos.

As you can see, I got many tools with it and for that price(ca $170) its a bargin.

I tested it in my appartment:

Olof,
I watched the video looks like it runs pretty true have you checked to see if it runs concentric (perfectly round spindle)

by the sound of it you may want to check the bearings they sound a little loud or something is giving off that sound.

What do you plan on turning with it?
In an apartment, won't the neighbors complain?
They would here, at least one...There is always one.

Anyway, have fun, it sounds like a good deal.
The toola make it worth it.
You will have them long after you out grow that lathe.

I live in a city with 120k citisens and cutting down trees here woulndt be too popular Smiley
For what i paid for the table is a great price for dryed oak.

Its made out of glued "bars" of oak as i need someone to split with a saw.

Good deal!  I like the large bedan tool (4th tool from the left).  I have played around a little with the bedan and enjoy using it.  I have a small, home made bedan (3/8" or 9.5 mm).  Some day I'd like to get a bigger one.  Its a very nice tool for spindle turning once you learn how to use it.

Be very careful with the shallow gouge that necks down to a small tang.  That gouge shape has been called a number of names including "continental gouge" or "German gouge"  It is for spindle work and NOT bowl work.  The tang can break on a catch and bad things can happen easily.   Same issue happens with a spindle roughing gouge with a small tang.
