Nov 12^th, 2015 at 7:00pm When getting your turnings ready to travel to a craft fair or show, how do you protect your work? I have thought about wrapping bowls, goblets, boxes, etc in bubble wrap but not sure if it would mark the turning. What do you all use? Thanks - Dave G.

Reply #3 - Nov 12^th, 2015 at 9:25pm I am forunate to have TLOML sew old towels, jeans, flannel sheets, etc into bags. The cloth seems to do the trick for most of my utility turnings. Fragile items get packing. But not too many of my turnings are fragile.

+ 1 on the sewn bags, we bought several fleece blankets from a Fred's store that was going out of business a few years back, and my wife who loves to sew, turned out bags for everything from a 4" bowl to a 20" platter. Smaller items like birdhouses, ornaments etc., go into a Rubbermaid container separated by tissue paper.

I have small bags for my Xmas Ornaments that go with the purchaser, at time of sale. Folks seem to like that little extra touch, and many times they say that the item is a gift so the bag with seasonal pattern is perfect AND they don't need to wrap it.
Also keeps it protected for the other 11 months of the year.

Thanks Len - It has been a long time since I had the pleasant experience of traveling with "kids" that I guess I have forgotten the fun and joy of such an adventure.

You make a very good point. This is one of the best forums I've ever belonged to, and I've been registered on quite a few over the years with my various hobbies. Not only are folks helpful here but everyone seems to be courteous. So many other sites have folks who are trying to out do each other or are just plain nasty.
