Snake Vase
Nov 15th, 2015 at 6:47am

Someone gave me a log to have fun with, not really sure what wood it was. Then I carved all the extras and glued them on. The carved pieces are bubinga.

Looks really neat BUT... you call it a vase. Is there an opening to put something in? Please, give us more shots of it showing top, front back, etc.

The more shots, the better we can understand what you did. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Bubinga is hard as a rock but holds a wonderful edge so I love carving with it. Only problem is you MUST use carbide tipped power carving tools.

Rob, I use a Mastercarver. It runs a little over $250, don't know if you would consider that expensive but by the time you buy all the different bits needed it's not a cheap sport.

A bit expensive for me,turning  stuff alone takes care of most of my spare change LOL .I tried carving with a Dremel tool ,not so good, but maybe with practice .In the mean time I'll admire yours and others work.

That is a beautiful piece. I am in awe of your ability to carve the details on the handle, etc.
