Has anyone used Renaissance Micro Crystalline wax polish on bowls?

Not on bowls, but I use it all the time on pens and other small stuff.

Works well on bowls or anything.  It does not show finger prints or water spots which is nice for shows.  Of course you use it after you have done your normal finishing and buffing routine.  It is not a finish by itself

Than you gentlemen, I appreciate your answers. As a new turner I have learned so much from this forum. Turning has given me such great joy in my retirement The satisfaction of creating a thing of beauty from an indiscriminate piece of wood and then at times giving it to someone as a gift and witnessing the true feeling of wonder and appreciation is very special to me. Many of you artists have set a high bar for us just starting and every day I turn I strive to create pieces I have seen here. Thank you, God bless and Merry Christmas

David, please keep participating.  Often I will gain insight or recollection from "basic" questions.

welcome to the vortex, as many here will tell you..  Smiley

my grandfather always said a gift is the very best thing you can ever make in the shop....didn't matter what it was, or even how "good" it was....it's the spirit you put into it...

Some of these guys will SERIOUSLY inspire you to step up your game...   When i start to think maybe i've really got the hang of this bowl-making process, i look into the gallery and get just WOWed by what some of the guys can do....and it get me thinking about where i can do better Smiley

(which of course leads to wanting another tool...more wood....bigger shop....etc, etc, etc,     Grin   )

David I use Renaissance Micro Crystalline wax on all my bowls because they resist finger prints and won't show water spots like carnuba wax does. I bought a can 6 years ago and still have about a third of a can left. When they say a little goes a long way they mean it. I have made literally hundreds of bowls over the life span of that can. Great product.

I use ren-wax on almost everything I make.  I finish most things with lacquer and can get a nice, smooth finish sanding with 400 between applications.  After the last coat cures for about a day, I put a little wax on some 0000 steel wool and hand buff it on in circular motions over the surface.  This cuts back any tiny imperfections in the finish and also removes the plastic look from the finish resulting in a baby's bottom soft to the touch piece.  After buffing, my customers will just pick it up and caress it.  These pieces remain nice after many days of shows and repeated handling ... resist water spots and just result in a nice finished product.

David,  we were all beginners when we started turning.  Just keep learning and turning, and with each thing you make you'll get better and better.  Be willing to try new things and expand your skills. Learn from everyone you can, because you will never know who will give you that "light bulb moment".  You'll soon find yourself doing things you never expected.  Smiley

Look forward to seeing some of your turnings.  Smiley
