Craft shows

I went to a craft show last night and am going to another one today. I saw some bowls for sale by a turner and I was surprised to find that most of the bowls for sale had very noticeable tool marks, etc. it also seemed that many of the interior of the bowls were not sanded at all. They were priced $25-60 each. Most were of salad bowl size, a few were salad plate size.

Do you put pieces for sale that are of that quality?

No. And I would be willing to bet he won't do very well with sales if they're as bad as you describe. This in turn (no pun) hurts other turners who take pride in their work and ask a higher price but will look like they are price gouging.

Craft sales are a great place to find out what is "out there".
Gives one the opportunity to gauge the fit and finish of product and to help one set their own personal standard. The buying public may not know the technical stuff but in my experience they do recognize what they don't like once they pick it up and look at it.
