Mod. for Ellsworth jig

Lyle Jameson mentioned in a sharpening tutorial that the original Ellsworth jig used a flat spring to secure the chisel.  When withdrawing the chisel the spring scraped the freshly ground edge spoiling it.  I removed the spring and put a plastic cap from a cola bottle over the end of the hold down screw.

The original Wolverine jig had a spring on the top.  The Ellsworth jig, original and new and improved, has the tightening screw on the bottom and pushes the gouge up against the top of the holder.  No springs in either model.

Whoops.  You are correct.  Mine is the Wolverine.
