Chestnut Music Box
Feb 10th, 2016 at 11:33am

This piece doesn't really look segmented, but the body is made from eight pieces of chestnut, cut @ 22.5 deg. angles on a table saw. The bottom was turned from one piece of 1" thick chestnut - same for the ring that holds the glass. I finished the wood with sanding sealer and smoothed it with a brown scotchbrite pad. I liked the sheen (or lack thereof). I ended with a coat of Krylon matte clear.

The box is 4" dia. x 3-1/8" overall height.
