General Internation lathe poor part service
Feb 11th, 2016 at 12:47pm

I own a General Intl 25-200 lathe and the circuit board went out. I called the Jan 13 and it took until Feb 11 for the part to arrive. They are located in Canada and the part ships from there to Tennessee and is then shipped to the customer. I feel waiting almost a month is very poor service. As anyone who has read reviews of this lathe, the motor is too small but I can live with that but I can't see waiting a month for a part. I would never recommend dealing with this company.

Maybe that's why very few own their products? I wish I was on this forum before I bought my lathe. would not be saving for an upgrade now.

Sometimes shipping circuit boards from other countries to the US can be problematic. I once needed a board that came from Sweden and it was held up in customs for 4 months before they released it.

Consider yourself lucky to get a part from them .I ordered a shaft for my table saw from them Feb 2015 and still have not gotten it.I give up .I will never own another General International tool.

That's too bad. I have a general midi lathe that I consider far superior to anything in class. It was at an incredible price as well.

I guess I could consider myself lucky, when I was having issues with my 25-200, they originally sent me a new board, that wasn't the issue, so when I went back to them about it they said to go  back to where I purchased it. General had called ahead and the store gave me a whole new head stock, ready for me when I got there.  No issues since !!!

I made a PDF & posted it here on making women's ring/jewelry bowls & sent that exact bowl with the exotic wood to make 2 more. I sent it to Ireland to a member who lives there. as a thank you he sent me 3 boxes of chocolate it took just over 2 months to get to my house by that time it had all melted into 3 big blobs of chocolate  Embarrassed but still tasted great  Grin
