The original poster miss titled the post since I presume that is the piece he was working on when the issue came up.  He was wet sanding a piece and also his machine would not run on a GFCI circuit.  He was concerned about wet sanding without the lathe being attached to a ground fault circuit.  The two topics are very much related. Even though I make once turned bowls from green wood, I'm just not comfortable wet sanding when GFCI protection not available.  And I'm not anxious to quickly clog expensive Norton 3X sandpaper on green wood.  Thought about using wet-dry paper, then remembered that they seem to tint light colored woods.  Until I win the lottery and can afford a second 120V 3 speed lathe, if and when I'm motivated to sand green wood I'll use the most inexpensive sandpaper I can find - it will become clogged before it prematurely wears out or the glue fails.  Wish I had better thought this through when I was experimenting with green turned goblets.
