For the center flower and spiral I used the Micro Spiraling Texturing tool. I tilted it to 1 o'clock and held it there for a few seconds. It's important to use the bevel side of the wheel to develop the flower. The flower and spiral are both created at the same time.

The diamond pattern on the lid was created with the Wagner Texturing tool. I start by pushing the inside corner directly into the wood then slowly rotate the tool until the entire face of the wheel is rotating on the wood. Then push until you get the pattern you desire. Slow speed is important to get the crisp detail of this tool. About 500 rpm. And of course the skew for detailing the lines. Then burnish with a natural bristle brush cut to 1/2".

Think i might be too "light-handed" with it...

Tim my experience with these tools is that when new and still clean they are hungry. I found mine worked much better after I got it covered in wood dust and chips. Took about three pounds of walnut, two of hard maple and a little bit of sapele, then,lo and behold, the results started to be more consistent. But note these tools are hungry and must be fed regularly to keep them in shape. Cheesy
