Not sure if this should be here are in finishing.

My daughter has asked about adding some dried flowers to the surface of a HF.  I have a couple questions that I would like some input/help on.

1.  What is the best way to attached the flowers to the surface of the wood?  CA?  WOP? Other options?

2.  Once attached what is the best finish to apply to the turning?  I traditionally use a dipping method.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

I don't really have a good answer just something I've seen that might work if you could figure out how to do it.

What I'm talking about are bar counters and table tops that have a 2-part thick epoxy resin finish. I've seen things like shells and currency embedded in a 1"~2" thick clear layer.

But they were flat surfaces which made it easy to dam up the sides to float the resin with the objects.

Good Luck

If they are dried, pressed flat flowers with not much dimension to them, you could press them into a wet finish and then once that is dry, recoat the finish. That should make them an integral part of the bowl.
I would think that polyurothane would work for this. Personally, I don't like the high gloss finish, especially with something like this project as it would make alot of specular points of reflecting light so I would use a satin finish for it.

You could try decoupage paste (SP). It does get soft with heat after it dries though.
