Making the Carved Spindle/Flute
Apr 10th, 2016 at 10:34am

I saw this flute and was wondering how he turns this? I know the professionals like him do use some CNC machines. Is there a way I could do something like this or something similar on my flutes with out expensive machinery etc? I dont want to copy his work but just do my own thing. He makes some nice flutes.

From the example shown, it looks like you would draw lines lengthwise on the flute using an indexer, and then do the carving with a ball mill in a Fordham or Dremmel tool, or it could be done with a small carving gouge.
