Hello from South Dakota

Hello from South Dakota! My name is Chet Benest and I live in the south east corner of SD. I am a cabinet maker by trade and have enjoyed woodworking since I was a kid.

I scored a super deal on a Jet JWL-1236 lathe with a few accecories and have just turned simple things so far to get my feet wet.

Anyway, I look forward to learning what this forum has to offer and maybe make a few friends along the way.

Welcome aboard Chet!

If you really want to get you feet wet, you might want to join you local chapter of the AAW. They'll have turners that enjoy teaching others.

Welcome to the forum.

Over the years I have done an informal survey and I have come to believe that everyone has relatives in South Dakota.  My Mom was born there, near Platte.  But that was over 100 years ago.

Everyday liberating nice things from ordinary chunks of wood---and I like gnarly wood, the outcome is nearly always better than the start.
