My niece sent me a picture of some purple wood she found any idea what it is? She lives in South Texas.

Just did a quick Google and the wood 'purpleheart' is a possibility as it's now considered an invasive plant into Texas.

South American purpleheart is a very heavy, dense wood with a dark purple color.  Over time the surface turns dark brown.  I was told it also stands up well to exposure to the weather.  No idea if it causes sensitivity for some people when worked.
