Anchorseal removal
Jan 2nd, 2017 at 10:51pm

I have rough cut some burls and then applied Anchorseal all over, including the remaining exposed bark. I want to leave the bark but am concerned about the Anchorseal that will remain in the bark when I do the finish turn. I was hoping to apply some sort of finish on the bark. Is there a way to remove the Anchorseal from the bark so that it will hold a finish coat. Not sure yet what the finish coat will be. Depends a little on the answer to the above .
Thank you.

I have in the past used a hot water spray - as hot as you can get it, it will rince off the wax, and won't penetrate far into the wood.  Be sure to wash out the kitchen sink when done to prevent  anger issues from arising!

You'll have to experiment on some Anchorsealed scrap first, but naptha often is mentioned for removing furniture wax.  Denatured alcohol and mineral spirits were also suggested.
