Software
Jan 8th, 2017 at 9:04pm

I know I asked about this when I was first getting started, but now that I have some experience I think I am in a better position to compare in more detail. I looked at both Segmented Project Planner and Woodturner Pro when I started. I chose SPP and have had some decent results. However, it's been over a year now so I thought I would take a look again to see if anything has changed. I see that Lloyd has added Segment Pro. Has anyone compared the two packages and have an opinion on one or the other or both?
WTP seems to have some slicker looking screens but I am wondering if there is any real technical advantage of one over the other. I understand both are great software packages and are a real help. I don't want to knock either one. Then I am sure we all have our preferences from what we have been using.
Any objective insight is appreciated.
Thank you

Bruce, the only real advantage that I'm aware of is that Woodturner Pro can be used in conjunction with the other titles offered on his site.
SPP is more of a stand alone title, I'm not sure how much importing or exporting to /from other programs you can do with it.
I will say, having SPP for many years, the customer service is great and he (Bill Kandler) continually works to improve the software with updates/improvements.
I don't own Woodturner Pro

I use Woodturner Pro and like it. I am not sure about other packages but I really like the importing option. If I see a piece weather  wood or ceramic I can take a picture of it just to get the shape
