New to turning

Hello to everyone.  I reside in NJ and I am new to turning but not to wood working.  Purchased my first lathe last week and joined this forum to help with my learning curve.  Right now, just practicing on some scrap lumber and have already found out that my inherited chisels need some serious sharpening.  Hope to be rectifying that soon.  Thanks

Welcome Clifford!

I think your best bet would be for you to join your local chapter of the AAW. It's free and you'll be able to find a mentor to help you with that learning curve.

Everyday liberating nice things from ordinary chunks of wood---and I like gnarly wood, the outcome is nearly always better than the start.
