"Say Goodbye To Tedious Trial and Error Dado Setups. The only way to describe dado setups is an “on again, off again affair.” Mount the blades and chippers in your table saw, add some shims to guestimate the desired width, tighten the arbor nut, make a test cut, repeat. And repeat again. Oh yeah, try not to drop anything into the deep pile of dust inside your saw! Is it any wonder dado setups are dreaded?"

Seriously, who are these people?

IMO
This has got to be in the running as one of the most ridiculous things I've seen come from them.
If you buy a "good" dado blade set, you don't need to spend an additional $169.00 so that you can adjust it for a proper fit.

I'm clearly not their target market, since, besides being cheap (frugal?), I don't "dread" using my dado set. It doesn't seem right to me to spend more on the set up tool than I spent on my dado set.

That said, I bet they sell out.

all you need is a 5/8x2" bolt and a 5/8 nut. a ˝" bolt would work with a little slop in it.

works for me.

My dado set costs about $200
It comes with 3 different sized chippers and shims (if necessary), not to mention a handy chart if you need it. Standard increments of 1/32", even finer if you utilize the shims.
All you need to do is know your measurement, (look at the chart if you need to) and mount the blade. There is no additional cost, assuming you have some type of device to measure what size dado you need to cut. Roll Eyes

I gave up on this company when the charged my credit card 6 months before shipping the product, and when I questioned them on it they basically said "though that is how we do it. You can't get these tools anywhere else." They were right I could not get a red one anywhere else but I got a silver one, and rarely look back.

IMHO, these "one time tools" are for people who have too much money or those who just have to have every tool there is sitting around gathering dust.

just remember, he who dies with the most tools is still dead!

buy only what you can not make and spend your money on family!!

I personally find the entire company very confusing.
Some of the tools they make we're hard to find items from the past now they're, in a way, gimmicky.
Not that they're poor quality tools, it's that most of the time they're unnecessary.
If you have enough knowledge and skill to use a dado blade set, you don't need a tool to help you use a dado blade set. Huh Undecided
I'm sure next month they'll come out with yet another "square" of some kind for $99.00  Roll Eyes

David.  You know that is not true.  That is an alternative fact.  I am sure of it. Grin Grin Grin

I am kind of cheap also, but I find a digital caliper works perfect with no worries.  That way I can save money for more turning stuff for me and the vets.

Here is Lee Valley's entry into the one time tool department - except, of course, it's their annual April Fool's tool.
