I'm not sure what size you mean by "larger" but
I believe all the jaws from your G3 will fit on the SuperNova 2 which is a step up and can handle up to 16" bowls. (that's my lathes capacity)

Anthony,

The Super Nova 2 handles larger bowls in the 14/15 inch size that fits on a 1624 lathe.   Jaws are interchangable with your G3.

Depending on the woods you will be using, you may want to add a set of larger jaws to your kit.

The Titan is also a choice, and would add a margin of capacity for larger blanks if you turn "outboard".

Anthony,
I have found that I like the Titan chuck. It is the largest/heavies Nova chuck available and uses the same jaws that fits both the Super Nova and the G3. I use it for all size turnings on both my AB and Jet 1642.

I think you will find the G3 is too light for the 1624.  It is designed primarily for use on mini's and midi's.

I have the Nova 1624/44 and use super Nova 2 with 100 mm jaws for turning 16 in bowls inboard .and 20 in platter out board but think 2 or 3 in thick out board .

I have not been happy with my Titan.  Perhaps I have abused it as I have used it a lot for roughing and for coring, but the jaws are no longer concentric and it seems like it is no longer holding as well when it was new.  The last chuck I bought was a Stronghold.

I also have a G3 and have been happy with it for the most part.

I have no experience with the SuperNova.

IMO, The Titan is good for larger items but may be unnecessary for a 16" lathe, unless you go outboard for much larger turnings. The SN2 is a good everyday utilitarian chuck that can handle most anything you can put on a 16" lathe
The Titan  also cost about $70 more than the SN2, if that is a factor in deciding.

Another vote for the SN2.  In larger jaws I would go with the PowerGrips over the standard 100mm bowl jaws.  Not a lot more $$ and gives you more options for holding hollow forms or other items with a very long spigot.
My late is 16" and I use my G3's as much as my SN2's.

I have a 3520b and also use G3's and SN2's. The G3 does just fine if you keep the stock you are turning within the specs for the G3.

I use the Vicmark chucks, and have little experience with the Nova chucks. However, you can put big jaws on a small chuck, but putting the same jaws on a bigger chuck is much more stable.

1 1/4 by 8 works.   There were some problems in the recent past with non-nova inserts not running true.  Get the nova brand, and be sure to set the grub screw and fiber washer to lock the insert in place.

Good choice as I have several that have worked well.

A small split shot used for a fishing weight works instead of the fiber/leather washer.  A small piece of solder can be used.   Have used loctite also, but with loctite you need to warm the insert to about 150 defrees F to remove it.

The purpose is to assure friction holds the insert tight without damage to the threads which might make future removals a problem.

You will need the L insert (ILNS) like this.

I have found that Home Depot's online store has Nova chucks and inserts on their website.  If you buy it thru Home Depot, they will deliver it to the store near you for free and you can pick it up there.  I did this when I purchased my Titan and an insert for my SN2.

The hole in the rim is to lock down the insert when turning in reverse.  Also good to use when heavy sanding in reverse.

Nylon thread screws are prefered by some.  Leather dot, piece of solder or a split shot fishing weight will work to avoid marring threads.  Some lathes have a smooth section of headstock there, and some have threads.  If threads, protect them from grub screw damage.
