Pipe Stand
May 1st, 2017 at 5:18pm

My latest turned wood and horn project - a pipe stand. The tobacco jar is made from walnut and horn. The turned cork disk on the lid makes a nice seal. The tamper is turned from horn and brass. The base and pipe holders are maple.

I haven't bought tobacco for 40 years but needed some as a prop for my photos. I went into the local news store and (I haven't done this for a long time) asked if they had Prince Albert in a can.

They don't anymore - he's in a paper box.......

Eric

Have you considered placing photos of your projects in the gallery?

Very well done Eric, as is everything you post pictures of. What is the purpose of the project ? You do not smoke so I am guessing it is for some other interest, another hobby ?

Robert: I had just finished making some inkstands. One of them was made using horn. I saw a nice piece in my horn pile that seemed the right color for a tobacco jar and, just went from there. I don't make stuff to sell so I just try out ideas.
