How much time do we spend in our shops

We all have busy lives.

With our families, work schedules and obligations sometimes its difficult to find time to slip away into the shop to get into some woodturning. Sometimes I find it impossible to get into the shop with all the things I have going on. Other times I can spend hours even days turning. Luckily my family understands that I need to get into the shop, especially when I get engrossed on a project.

QOTW: On the average, how much time do you spend in your shop woodturning or related tasks (such as sanding and finishing)?

It can be listed in hours per day, week, month or however else you wish.

This has been the case for me lately. I have a few large projects in progress that are weather dependent, so they take precedent over everything else.
As of now, I spend many hours (about 20) in the shop but none of it on woodturning. Hopefully this will change in the next couple of weeks as I complete my other tasks and get back to a more "normal" Roll Eyes

Right now my answer is 0 - not enough.

For me, I find that my winter and summer time in the shop is different (go figure in Alaska!)

Summer: 4 -5 hours per weekend and 1 hour per weeknight - so 10 hours per week

Winter - 8 hours per weekend and 2 hours per weeknight - so almost double the time!

I am sure this number will go up when I retire.. Right now I put in more than 40 hrs /week at work.

Even if it means only applying 1 coat of finish on a bowl.

On and average I spend about 20 hours a week in the shop. A little less maybe during duck and deer season. 🤔

My work week varies, but on average is about 60 hours a week, sometimes more, seldom less! I sleep only about five hours a night if I don't get called out, then less. I look at about an hour a night, and sometimes that is just being in the shop soaking up ambience! Weekends shop hours increase, especially if it's raining! It's tough being the boss!
