Shopsmith (for now)
New member, new turner

Hi all,

I'm an old guy who is new to woodturning. Actually just started a couple of months ago on an old Shopsmith I sort of inherited. My only previous exposure was in high school shop class 50-some years ago. The Shopsmith is not an ideal lathe, by any stretch, but I don't want to spend a lot of money until I've learned more from folks like you. Thanks for letting me join the group.

Welcome! The Shopsmith will do fine for now- I have three of them! I have upgraded to a Powermatic but still go back to the Shopsmith a lot.

I know it's a bit of a drive, but if you come down to the Sacramento area, Nor-Cal Woodturners have a meeting on the last Tues of each month. If you can't make the meeting you are welcome to come by my shop any time. PM me if interested.

Welcome from SE Texas way!
I too started on Shopsmith--after seeing it done on a tv show.  And that's how it started......
