Woodcraft, Craft Supply USA, Packard, Amazon, etc

you will be looking for a Morse Taper 2 arbor adapter.  This has the morse taper to fit the tailstock and a Jacobs Taper that fits a drill chuck.

Woodcraft sold the two pieces together for about $30 last time I was in a store earlier this spring.

You can pay lots more for drill chucks and get less runout.   My woodcraft like ones have about 25 thousand run out and that is acceptable for many/most uses on a wood lathe.

I was surprised how well this one works and it doesn't require a chuck key.  If you're willing to wait you should be able to find it on sale.

My poor chuck with a key looks so sad sitting on the self unused.

Marty

I still use a Jacobs Chuck some of the time but this is what I use 70% of the time.

They are MT drill bits and if you need smaller bits there is an MT 2 sized to MT 1 for bits down to 1/8"

Here is the links to where I get them

and the Adapter sleeves

Also for anyone that wants to use wire brushes or buffs you can use this

Hope it helps everyone

O and when I do weed pots I do so between centers and when I drill it out I leave the bit in like a jamb chuck and reverse it into the head stock and finish it off.  A caution tho if you have a bigger bit like 3/4" like I use I drill half way and remove the chips and then drill the rest of the way and the chips keep it tight into the vase or else you will have a dickens of a time getting the bit out of the vase other wise.
