Burl...
May 30th, 2017 at 6:24pm

My wife and I took the boys on a hike this past Sunday in a nature park in northern MD.  While hiking the trail, my wife points and asks 'Is that one of those burls you're always talking about?'  And I said...yes, yes it is.  This was about five feet tall and would have easily taken three of me to wrap arms all the way around it.

Yes...it's in a nature park so they'd probably be unhappy if someone took their Stihl to it.

Ok.... first, get a battery powered chain saw.  It's very quiet so they won't hear you when you cut the tree down... preferably at nite.
Then you'll need some sort of electric cart to move it to your  car or truck.

After that, good luck getting it into the vehicle without causing permanent damage to your back. Smiley

You might also think about actually asking the people who run the park if you could cut the tree down ...and clean up after your self...as it is obviously "diseased" and in return, you'll make a couple of bowls from the burl.

Seriously, it never hurts to ask. All they can do is say no but you might actually get a yes.

Better yet, continue to visit and admire the work of nature and share with other visitors of the park, until the tree has to be taken down.
