Saw dust addict in withdraw.

Hi, my name is Brian and I am a sawdustaholic. I have been clean and sober for a little over 5 years. LOL!

Really though, Hello all! I am just gearing up to start a new adventure in woodturning. I was a finish carpenter/cabinetmaker for about 20 years. I also built quite a few furniture pieces in my home shop, until 7 years ago when I got divorced and lost my shop. About 5 years ago I moved from carpentry to project management. I have had major itch to make some saw dust for a while now but have not had a place to set up shop. I have decided to move from the little lake house I have now, to a place with a garage so I can make some dust! I have always been interested in woodturning and since I will have to pretty much start over with machinery I want to start a new journey into woodturning. I will be working with limited budget, and space but I am very exited! I appreciate any advice you guys have as to best things to buy to start out and things to avoid. Any tips for set up/lay out for a limited space shop would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice and sorry in advance for all the stupid questions I may ask!

Welcome Brian!

I don't know where you're located but I think your best bet would be to join your local chapter of the AAW. It's free and there will be people there that will be happy to teach you the basics (also for free.)

I plan to start small, pens, boxes, candle sticks, bowls and plates. I definitely have interest in pens and all the kits that the turning supply sites have and will probably start there.
