Hello,
Bought my HF lathe in April so just learning. I took a class last year at the local Woodcraft store and got the bug. Will be asking some questions as I go along and hope to get good enough to contribute to the forum. I will post some pics soon of my first projects. I have turned 10 things so far and only one of them was destroyed by ignorance. Grin

The HF was my first dedicated lathe after I started on my Shopsmith. Decided I liked the hobby a lot!! I've since progressed to larger capacity machines-- I like turning bigger things.

BTW--Despite what some say, wood for turning does not necessarily have to be dry. I really don't worry about it--some woods do crack and warp , amount depends on the species and the shape of the turning. You're in a good area--Mesquite is plentiful, and about the most stable wood there is.
