Bruce Kamp Active Member Offline WR Rocks! Posts: 230	Drill chuck Aug 6^th, 2017 at 1:03pm What is a good drill chuck with a 2MT mount? I need one that I can use a draw bar on. I have seen the write up on the one from PSI but many complained about the quality of the taper. Thanks

I originally purchased it in the MT1 taper, but when I upgraded to a larger lathe, I simply swapped out the arbor with an MT2 taper.

I found out (while in use) that my drill press uses a #2 MT to hold the chuck into the head....

That means I could use the same chuck in both the drill press and in my lathe (although I have to adapt it up to a #3MT for my lathe).

It came loose once during use. I am not sure if the drive shaft is hollow all the way thru, allowing the use of a knock-out bar.

It's worth looking at if you have one! My drill press is a bench mounted Craftsman.

It does have a 2MT taper and works fine if I tap it into the headstock using a piece of wood and hammer. However, I would feel better, and safer, knowing I had it snug with a draw bar.

I make sure I am never rushing things. This is assuming that you are spinning the wood and holding the drill chuck still in the tailstock.
