HaHA, the question got me to thinking--I have all those "tools" too.
Originally I was just going to say a variety of air driven sanders and a blow gun that get used frequently. Mounted my retractable air hose reel overhead--was a "reel" smart move.

Everyday liberating nice things from ordinary chunks of wood---and I like gnarly wood, the outcome is nearly always better than the start.

QOTW: What non-lathe / non-woodturning tool do you keep close to the lathe and for what use?
Router, it has many uses.
Here are two examples.

Disclaimer, currently having a smaller shop than I need, there is probably a router close to you no matter where you stand  Grin

Ed, How did you vary the depth of cut? Use a ramp as a guide for the router, and indexing the plate?

There two ways to vary the depth of cut.
1. cut at an angle other than 90 degrees or perpendicular to the piece, then true up the face with turning tools.
2. cut at 90 degrees and turn face at an angle.(this just gives the illusion that the depth changes)
I use the indexing on my lathe for now, I'm planning on building some templates for myself that will make the process go faster.

Ok, I would like to append my post... Besides the broken clock....

I usually turn while listening to music Smiley.  Some say that turners need to listen to the wood while turning.  Sometimes that is true and when turning VERY THIN, I do remove the ear buds, but USUALLY I am listening to music.  That non-tool item would be my iPhone and ear buds or my Zune (I know THAT dates me!  Smiley) and my ear buds are with me all the time Cool.
