I have a record coronet/3 lathe and I'm looking for a 6" tool rest. The stem is 3/4 in dia, an odd size. I can order one from england but the shipping costs will be 3 times the tool cost.Ouch! Does anyone know of a north american source for record parts new or used?

Bill, why does it have to be a Record tool rest? I would think any tool rest with a 3/4" post would work, just the post has to be the right length and size. If you asked on some of the woodworking sites, you will probably find someone who could make you one. I know that on the IAP site, there are a couple of people who make them.

Thanks for the reply Len,I'm turning small spindles not much bigger than a pen and about 6" long. The after market rests with a round bar fastened to a straight post leave the rest almost 2 inches away from the work,so I need one that is offset like the cast one from Record. There are lots used ones like it on ebay but so far nothing with a 3/4 in post.I was hoping to find a Record distributor in Canada or the USA.

I also believe (you should email them to be sure) that Oneway 1018 uses a 3'4" post
