Nutmeg Grinder
Sep 29th, 2017 at 5:34pm

I've been asked to make a nutmeg grinder but am having trouble finding a grinding mechanism.

Does anyone know who sells one?

Thanks,

J

Thank you. Do you know if they are still in business? Nothing on the site is recent.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that page was out of date.
Try this one.

It appears that you have to buy a package of 3 kits for $35. Not really a bad deal, especially since they seem to be the only ones who sell them.

Is there much difference between the two, nutmeg and pepper grinders? I have a few pepper grinders here, but until I read this posting I had never heard of a nutmeg grinder. I'll have to look into buying a few, my wife, her mom and my mother all use nutmeg fairly regulary. They all are home cooks, there's never been a boughten cookie in their homes. Well I guess that's a bit of a lie, sometimes people will bring a tin of boughten scotch cookies. We either end up giving them away, or throwing them out. Sometimes, I wonder what a boughten cookie might taste like. But, I'm afraid of buying a package, because I don't want my wife to think I prefer them. If she did, she might stop baking the homemade ones. I'd hate for that to happen, her cookies are delicious.

Nutmeg isn't actually "ground" it's grated. This makes the name (nutmeg grinder) incorrect and the part difficult to find.
A pepper grinder mechanism isn't the same at all and won't work on nutmeg.
