Hello once again every one, about a month ago I had turned a platter in Cherry to do some Pyrography on but the fire in the grain of that piece was so nice I couldn't bring my self to burn it. So I turned another piece this time it was a Teak platter just under 16" D and was going to do a Pyro fall pattern on it, but after looking at this piece I thought I would hand carve the Embellishment into the project and also pierce threw leaving a floating rim. All the work is hand done the only power tool used was the lathe. The name comes from when I started to come up with this idea back on September 22nd. I hope you all like it
C&C Welcome, Teak 16" D Varnish finish

Thank you Scott,Steve and Glenn: Glenn what's the trick to post in the gallery? I see that there's some of my info there but I don't see where you add photos.

There is no "trick"
You must register in the gallery just like you did here, it is different software.
It's best to keep all your information (screen name) the same so as not to confuse yourself and others.
Photos in the gallery do not automatically get deleted over time, they will stay indefinitely.
Photos in the gallery should be of completed projects only.

As for C&C of the platter, nice job on the carving but I have to ask one thing. Why carve an Oak leaf and acorn theme on a Cherry platter?

Sorry, Teak but the same question applies.
Why carve an Oak leaf and acorn theme on a Teak platter?
While I know teak leaves may not be overly attractive to some, teak can have some very unique seed pods that would lend themselves well to a carving pattern.
Just a thought.

Thanks Rob the pattern I drew myself, I made a small section and connected it all the way around the rim transferring w/ carbon paper, but while carving I changed each section a lil bit.

Very nice, Bruce. And an inspiration to me to try to do more artsy embellishments.

I've had my eyes opened this fall, even at the craft (cr*p) shows that I do, the artsy stuff sells.
