Search for the last year didn't get any returns.  I've been asked to turn some bowls from a healthy 12" weeping cherry cut down a few days ago.  Anone have experience with this tree?

So it turns out the weeping part of a weeping cherry is grafted to a different tree about 5 feet above the ground.  Guess the tree was cut due to decline - several of the horizontal branches at the top of the graft had some decay, so may not get much of the actual graft for turning.  The trunk probably is some type of ornamental cherry, have good expectation for some bowls from it after visit from the homeowner next saturday.

An Internet search found a plant nursery that said the trunk of a weeping cherry is usually a fast growing sweet wild cherry like Mazard or Mahaleb.  Just FYI.

Thought I'd post an image of my tree here at home for reference.
