Anyone have any experience with Rubber Chucky products?  I just ordered both sizes of the Finial Chucky after seeing a demo at our turning club.  I was wondering what others thought about the Finial Chucky and other Rubber Chucky products.  Thought and comments?

The only thing I have bought from there was a few PVC vacuum seals.
The site has grown quite a bit since my purchase.
Let us know how you like them since you seem to be the first.(guinea pig)

Don, the owner of "Rubber Chucky", belongs top the same club as do I.  I have almost everything he has offered and I can say, without reservation, the products live up to their expectations.  I have the "Finial Chucky" and have used it several times.  Never a problem to be had.  The products are well made and on target.  Time saving's is worth the price of admission!

I use the oneway vacume chucks and it appears that Chucky sells a seal for these as opposed to the oneway seals themselves.  Is there an advantage to using the Chucky seals...do they last longer, etc?

John,

I have a Hold Fast System, I bought the Rubber Chucky gaskets because I didn't like fiddling with the "O" rings that came with the Hold Fast heads.

Hi all,
This is Don from Rubber Chucky.
Let me answer some questions and clarify some things.

I was told about this post from a friend and felt that it would be best for me to answer.

This thread started out about the Finial Chucky and migrated to Vacuum Seals.

No problem as I stand behind all of my products.

So, here are my replies to the posts.

The seals I make are not silicone - silicone in my experience won’t hold up.
Mine are a proprietary urethane Rubber. I personally manufacture all Rubber Chuckies.

The seals for the different configurations are not all the same material for various reasons.  They have all been rigorously tested to ensure that they last and perform as expected.

Now to answer the questions about the OneWay seals. First of all OneWay is a great company with a great product. However, I feel that my seals are a better alternative than their “seal system”.  It is simply nice to have choices.

In the Nine years and hundreds of them that I have made; I have only replaced less than a handful.  Those replacements were mostly due to “pilot error” but I still replaced them at no charge.  One was cut when opening the package. I have had a couple occasions where they weren’t fully cured before I shipped them - rushing to help the customer - my policy now is that No Rubber Chucky ships before it is ready - no exceptions - I don’t care how badly you need it.

I do not know of anyone who has worn out My “OneWay” seals and One is a production turning company who makes thousands of bowls per year.

They are easily installed - simply slip them on - no gluing necessary

I do appreciate all the past business and look forward to future business.  All I ask is if you have a question call or email me.  If you want me to call you email me your number and a good time to call. That includes our friends in Canada.

Thank you,
Don Doyle

If you want more info on any of my Products - google is your friend - simply type in Rubber Chucky Products
