Does anyone have one of these posts? All I want to know is the thread size but it seems that is some sort of state secret. If anyone can tell me what the thread size is It would be very much appreciated.
And please no guesses, like I think it's this or it could be that.
I would like to use a post to mount things (other than a standard rest) on the lathe and need to know what size fasteners to use.
Thanks in advance

Old Delta 12" 46-701 in great condition. Had it about 20+ years and turned 1 part.

Ed, It looks to be a M10 x 1.5mm. Should measure about 1/16 inch between threads. Try a nut from Ace hardware if you have one near you. A 3/6-16 probably feels like it starts but won't go on.

Thanks for the confirmation  Thumbs Up
I did find one place that gave the same info yesterday, I like more than one "word of mouth" source. I have metric thread chasers and sizing tools, I just needed a number.

I really ticks me off that a tool, that clearly has a threaded section, has no information on the thread size. I know it's designed to be used with their toolrest but to not even mention the size is ridiculous IMNSHO

I would just order one and measure it before I spent much time making accessories for it.  It would be good to be sure and it is a fairly cheap part.  Amazon Prime for 10 bucks now.

I just wanted to be sure it wasn't some "odd-ball" specialty Nova thread that I wouldn't be able to get a fastener for. Being a standard M10, I'm not worried. I'm certainly not going to make any attachments for it if or until I buy one. Especially since the length of the threaded portion is also a secret.  Roll Eyes Grin

Sure it would cost more but a local machine shop could make some, with a more standard thread.  If it's going to be used a lot . . .

M10 is not a problem, no different than any other size to me. I just wanted to know before I bought.
