Is danish oil food safe

I would like to know if Danish oil is food safe.
Thought of using on a bowl for holding nuts.
Any suggestions for another choice would be appreciated as well.

I refer to the many finishing products that Klingspor's has. I have and use Salad Bowl Finish, also Preserve Master blend which is Tung oil base. The Preserve is a so called one step finish. Tung of different brands? Some may be better than others. I have used most all. Waterlox use to work for me until the priced went into orbit. Watco tastes terrible. I tried that for goblets. I would go with the Salad bowl finish, since the label reads it is food safe and can be used after 72 hours according to the label. I don't know about Mahoney Ulitity oil finish. I have read about mixed results with this product. Shop warming up while I post this. George Troy

Once it is fully cured danish oil is food safe.  I read an article not long ago that said that once cured all finishes are food safe.  Finishes like Mahoney's walnut oil need to be refreshed over time.

This is widely held to be true but there are two types of "food safe"
1. Food contact safe, which is just about anything including cured wood finishes.
2. Food service safe, this is for wooden surfaces that will have food prep work performed on or with them, cutting boards wooden spoons salad bowls.

The main things with food safe finishes are that you don't want any cracking or chipping and you don't want any type of reaction to food, people or pets.

I use it on items, that are going to be used to hold things that are close to be dry. But never on anything that will be used for wet use, things like cereals and soups. It is just my thing, nobody told me to do things this way.
